Latest Eley products.
Has anyone tried any of the new Eley products? I’ve been shooting Benchrest Outlaw and Contact lately. Haven’t bench tested but my long line scores are good. Very reliable in three different pistols. Price is decent considering the times. I like it!

Eley action and Bullseyex shoot well!
But, action for some reason is now 42 gr bullet which is illegal for one or the other organization

Very happy with Bullseye Pistol X for match ammo in a Pardini. I found that Eley Action is quite a bit softer - close to Eley Target - and I got occasional FTF's in a dirty gun on a cool/damp day (had the same experience with Target).
The gang from Michigan who I met recently were all staunch advocates of Eley Action, so maybe my experience is not typical.

I bought some Eley Action recently for giggles to try out. It functioned fine and exhibited acceptable accuracy, but CCI SV and Aguila offered better accuracy for me.
I saw the Action in 42gr. for sale yesterday. The Action that I purchased is 40 gr. Is it available in two different weights...?

The Action that I have is 40 grain. I also bought some Contact that is 42 grain. Both are shooting well for me.

Apparently Action is now 42 gr. Don’t know why, but, not legal for all

My theory is, this ammo is marketed towards semi autos. Perhaps the extra 2 grains gives a little boost to help function. Only a theory. I must say, my target pistols love it.

Silly rule that! Is it NRA, CMP, or both? Hope they don’t mind me shooting it on my home range this summer.

Re: Latest Eley products.
Well, I should have worded that differently
I ordered from Killough yesterday and noticed that the Action they were selling now had a 42 gr. projectile. Apparently they have none in stock in standard velocity. Looks like they make an Action Plus that is HV. They have that in stock.
The action that I ordered a couple weeks ago had the 40gr. projectile.
So in conclusion, I am confused alone just with the Action product offering. As if Eley's crazy-wide range of product offerings isn't confusing enough...

I ordered some Match and Target to try out. Will probably be all gone if I go back and order.
Would have like to have tried the Benchrest Outlaw, but it is a 42 gr. projectile, so not even going to fool with it. Looks like Contact is 42 gr. as well.

I have to ask..why not 42 gr? Is it evil or something? I know it’s not CMP legal but for nra and practice I don’t see an issue..then again I’m not well versed so......aub1957 wrote:I ordered some Match and Target to try out. Will probably be all gone if I go back and order.

I bought a few bricks of Action, Contact, and Benchrest Outlaw. They are all standard velocity (1090 FPS). The Benchrest Outlaw is advertised as 42 gr, but the ammo I got is marked as 40 grain. The action is 40 grain and the Contact is 42. It doesn’t make a bit of difference to me. It all shoots to the same POA. Accuracy is good and function is good as well. I will bench test it with my old Anschultz match rifle to see just how well it really shoots.
Killough has been solid through the last two ammo shortages. The Eley they sell is a little more expensive than the stuff we pistol shooters usually use, but it’s good ammo and Killough hasn’t jacked up the price.

Eley informed me that Action is now designed for the Practical shooter. The 42 gr gives greater performance on steel.
