Aimpoint failure.....again.
My Aimpoint H-1 malfunctioned once in the middle of a match yesterday even though I replaced the battery the night before. Then it failed again at the end of the match and would not work with yet another battery.
Will have to send it back to Aimpoint AGAIN for a second time.
It is on a Kodiak mount, so I don't know why it keeps dying. Everyone says it's such a great dot. For me, not so much.....
I also have a Sig Romeo 5 and it has trouble keeping zero.
Are there any other micro mount dots that are more durable on a .45?

I had one go out on me. Turned out I didn't have the battery cap turned down tight enough. You really have to crank them down to the point of being out of your comfort zone. Not snug but tight.

10lb spring and 4.0gr of VV N310, so not very hot.

Any opinions or experiences with the Ultradot Micro?

Based on the 3 that I had, I would stay with the Aimpoints..........

Yes, the one I tried would not hold zero due to the way the mount is attached to the tube. Not robust enough for 22 in my case.

I had two if the ultradot micros and sold them both. Not the best.

Val,
I see that you did not have a good experience with Sig Romeo 5 on your .45. I am using Sig Romeo 4M (MilSpec) on my .45 for a little over a year now and it holds zero consistently and has not failed me yet. Romeo 4 are supposed to be much more rugged than Romeo 5. The 4M version is discontinued by Sig but you can still find them on Ebay new from time to time.

Re: Aimpoint failure.....again.
Check contacts and see if there is a ring in battery compartment. They are usually a bayonet type and can come unscrewed
Re: Aimpoint failure.....again.
Same thing happened to me on an H-1, and later on an H-2. For me, there was a simple fix. The battery wasn't making good contact, so the dot turned off. Try taking a thin piece of heavy paper, or light cardboard, and put it between the battery cover/cap and the battery. For me, that's all it took. When it happened on my newer sight, they sent me a new cap, but I never needed to install it.valbern67 wrote:My Aimpoint H-1 malfunctioned once in the middle of a match yesterday even though I replaced the battery the night before. It was very frustrating.
You can test this - turn the brightness up full, remove the battery cap, and press with your finger against the battery. If the dot suddenly lights up, the rest is trivial. Aimpoint once told me to just tighten the cover more, but I didn't feel like doing that it was already fixed with a thin "spacer".

I contacted Aimpoint and ran through their "fix" and did not work. I am returning it and they will send me a new dot. Hopefully the new one will last longer than this one.....

Re: Aimpoint failure.....again.
Several dot manufacturers have told me that inexpensive batteries sometimes fail when subjected to recoil. Each time Duracell was recommended.

P.s. Each manufacturer specifically recommended against Energizer. I was surprised they would name names.

That might have been my problem - if I remember correctly, when I had my problem, I was using Energizer. No more. From now on, I'll only buy Duracell. Thank you!!

Re: Aimpoint failure.....again.
Optics Planet has the Primary Arms Advanced on Sale for $129 with free ship. IMHO give it a try. I have had good luck with them and had over 20,000 rounds one I used almost everything from 22lr to AR15.
I just bought one and I also bought the Gen II which I like a lot but I am going to keep that on a 22lr.
The base is ok not great but compatible with the Kodiak Base.

You have my utmost condolences from suffering from that terrible debilitating affliction shared with Bob Dole, Joeseph Biden, and other unfortunates. Maybe you should run for president?
My prayers be with you.
