WST for 45 acp

hi guys! just picked up a pound of WST powder, that i got on sale buy me. I was told that it is the same powder as trap 100/ 452.AA. and load it same way. trap 100 was great for light 45 loads using lead semi wads. not sure if to go with the old load though? 4.2 to 4.4. grs, and 185 semi or 200 grn semi. any suggestions?

4.2 gr for both 185 and 200gr lead bullets. Some prefer a little less or more, but I've never had a reason to test further. All shots on call.

I've loaded 4.4 grains of WST for .45 ACP 160 grain lead and 185 grain JHP. Works great for both.

4.0 or 4.2 for 185g LHP zeros.  Both work fine.   Went from Titegroup, to Clays, to Bullseye, to WST finally a couple of years back.   Think WST is probably the best for my purposes.

Shot my buddies 4.1 wst load with 200 Summers bullets. Dead on calls at 50 yds. Warmer than I like but would be confident using it for any match anywhere!

love this forum! so many wise shooters out there! thanks for all the info, i guess ill start with 4.1 and the 185 see if it works the slide with dot sight mounted on it. and work my way up, thanks again everyone.!

Great 45ACP powder, very clean. Some say it's heat sensitive but my testing didn't show a problem. It does have a pretty narrow usable range of load data for 200 grain loads.

4.0 WST for 200 SWWC  700 fps
4.5 for 185  SWC   775 Fps

I use 4.3 for 160gr SWC and 185gr HPWC. I also use it for .38 Special. 3.3gr for 158gr SWC and 2.7gr for 148gr HBWC. Had good results using it for 185gr JHP with 4.5gr. I'm sure I earned some Distinguished points with that load.

As stated, if you only load 45 and 38, WST is a great choice. Makes things easy. Extremely consistent metering.
