.22 short ammo
Is it legal in NRA to use .22 short ammunition? CMP?
Or is it Long Rifle only?
Or is it Long Rifle only?

CMP = ...only .22 cal. rimfire long rifle ammunition with bullets weighing not more than 40 grains.
NRA = Any .22 caliber rim fire long rifle cartridge may be used. Only bullets made of lead or similar soft material are permitted.

Re: .22 short ammo
Interesting- under the old "Conventional Pistol" Rules, Section 3.4 reads, ".22 cal rim-fire cartridge"
Precision Pistol Rules state, ".22 cal rim-fire long rifle may be used."
But it doesn't say, "only" long rifle, it says long rifle may be used.
So what's the verdict?

under really, really old rules you could probably use pinfires too.
always default to the most current rules.

I’m guessing someone lost a big match shooting 40 gr to someone shooting 38, or 42, gr and cried about not fair!

Can you send me a copy of the old pinfire rules? I looked in great-grandpappy's wooden chest and can't find them!
