Pulled 22 powder?
Any use for pulldown 22 powder?
Remington duds have Got to be good for something!
Looks like the 0.3 cc Lee disc drops 3.1 of it.
I did screen out the large chunks of priming compound.
I would not run this through a metal to metal powder measure.
Thanks

Geez Bruce! You must be desperate for powder! Maybe use it to fertilize your garden.

Gopher and vole control-think of the Caddy shack scene with Bill Murray and the tunnel blasting!

Already did that with almost a pound of 4227 that went bad!
Re: Pulled 22 powder?
If the powder is recent, like less than 10 years old, and you knew the burn rate, I suppose you develop some loads. But if it is 20 years or more old, I would not use it at all. You don't know how deteriorated it is, and whether it will spike the burn rate due to age.
And then, where is there any data to go by? The first test load, I would tie the gun to a tire, and pull the trigger with a string!

Re: Pulled 22 powder?
Rimfire powders are designed for a different ballistic response in long small bores so they are often too fast for CF applications. To attempt to use this powder for reloading would be extremely risky.

Re: Pulled 22 powder?
I read that they were slow powders almost like Herco or Hs7.

Re: Pulled 22 powder?
I have two reputable votes that it's faster. Calculating Sectional density gives a much lower number for 22 s vs others even a 45.
Re: Pulled 22 powder?
Articles found online indicate suitable powders for reloading .22 LR include 700x (#15), Unique (#47), and even Pyrodex. The fastest powder in one burn rate chart is Norma R-1, which is just ahead of Winchester WAALite (#2) and Vihtavouri N-310 (#3). Herco is at #51, and HS-7 at #66.
As an aside, there are faster smokeless powders than R-1, but these are normally used for loading blanks. (DO NOT load ammo with these powders.)

Light it on fire on the floor of the CSOTC range?
Not that I ever would have done something like that. I read about it somewhere.

Re: Pulled 22 powder?
In the early 1980s, the Boeing Employee's Rifle and Pistol Club had an indoor range in a basement space of a building in Downtown Seattle. We mostly shot there in the winter months and it was a double NMC with 22s. Anyway after two relays of 7 we swept up the brass in front of the firing line and one wag tossed a lit match in the pile. A rather large powder fire ensued for a few seconds and the acrid smell of burned powder filled the room. Lots of chatter ensued.

Re: Pulled 22 powder?
We had a story like that from a couple National Guard shooters...tossed a butt downrange in a dirty range ( some l saw were dirt floor with carriers and barriers) and boom, burned the place!
Re: Pulled 22 powder?
I hope someone gets some good use of Remington 22.
The only good use I have found for it is for the "ball and dummy" drill.
Absolutely the most misfires of any 22 ammo I have ever tried.
