Model 41 buffer
My Smith & Wesson model 41 has a buffer on the lower receiver spring. I read somewhere, I don’t know where that a buffer is recommended if you feed a lot of high velocity 22 in the pistol. I exclusively shoot standard velocity of various brands, whatever’s available at the moment. I have just gone through a case of CCI SV and I’m going to start on a case of Aguila super extra. Does having that buffer in the 41 an OK thing when shooting SV or should I just remove it and keep the buffer in my parts kit.

With the 41's I would say if it works don't change anything, I do not have one in mine though and it works just fine with SV ammo.

Re: Model 41 buffer
I was reading that the buffer dampens a certain amount of recoil down and I could certainly use the help and dampening the recoil for follow through, on the short line especially. With some benefit on the long line.

Re: Model 41 buffer
If I understand it correct the buffer was supposedly an aftermarket tool to reduce battering of slide on the frame. Same as many 1911 users have on the guide rod. Need it? No. Nice to have? Probably yes. No impact on using with any ammo.

Thanks in advance
