Anyone using 40 in 1911 platform?
Just don't see many of them around. Is there an inherant problem with 40s in the 1911 platform? Who makes a 1911 in 40?

you will find 1911's in 10mm. That's a similar round to the .40 s&w.
45acp is a better caliber anyway. Many police agencies are going back to 45acp over 40.

In fact, the only difference between .40s&w and 10mm is the case length, and the fact that 40S&w has small pistol primers instead of large. Max pressures are lower in a 40.
Has anyone tried firing 40's in a 10mm 1911?
Clark is selling 40 S&W magazines for 1911, so there must be 1911's built for that. I just haven't seen them.

That probably would not work out too well since straight wall cases headspace on the case mouth.Rob Kovach wrote:

You can always have a .40 bbl fitted to your 1911.

Question: Aside from .38 spl being able to use a full wad cutter due to case size, is there any fundamental accuracy difference between the .38 spl and the .38 super? In know that the .38 spl is laser accurate, but I also know from friends who shoot the .38 super that they are also laser accurate, so I guess what I should really be asking is, does anyone use the either in a wad gun?

Why build a 40? you could only shoot it for centerfire, recoil would not be much lighter, you would have to have two different setups to load on with two different primer sizes. If bullseye is what your interested in advancing in, its just a dead end road, travel it if you want to but in the end you will abandon it. Been down that road, nothing but a money wasting trip to nowhere.

Accuracy in CF can be achieved by tuning a 9mm Beretta or .38 Super/1911 at the expense of high recoil and noise. The .38 Spl wadcutter gun can deliver the same accuracy with low recoil. All 9mm/.38 bullet make smaller holes that, in some cases, fail to score in the 10 ring. .38 SPL 148g HBWC give up some accuracy at 50 yards, and will not help you shoot the .45 better.
