This prices on 9mm on GB are nuts
So about a month ago I bought 500 rounds of 9mm , I thought I paid too much but I needed the brass so I said OK I will over pay.
I paid $250 for 500 rounds of Remington UMC nothing special I figured whatI paid was $10 over retail maybe more and I was embarrassed to pay it.
People are paying $400 and more now.
This is nuts,

If that made you feel bad don't look at the primers, more like 10x retail.

Re: This prices on 9mm on GB are nuts
The pandemic has driven the cost of firearms and ammo/components through the roof. One of our sons, who is not a shooter, went to buy a 9mm semi-auto for home protection in April due to rule of law uncertainties driven by the pandemic. The LGD's parking lot was full and a long line of folks were already there 1/2 hour before opening on a Monday morning. He did get his pistol and ammo 3 hours after opening at pre-pamdemic prices. Now is a different story altogether. Not a good time to be short of shooting supplies. Once the pandemic is "under control" prices should start coming down. I hope.

Its really a "perfect storm" of the pandemic combined with the election madness along with the democrats now holding the senate, house and oval office. I have a year to a year and half of supplies but the supply is so uncertain I'm considering options to make it last closer to 2-3 years. Not a fun time.

Yeah I am not buying/building a RO a Wad Gun this year because I am budgeting spending 2000 bucks on primers and hopefully 2 cases of 22lr.zanemoseley wrote:Its really a "perfect storm" of the pandemic combined with the election madness along with the democrats now holding the senate, house and oval office. If you get 2 cases of .22 AND a 2 case of primers for $2,000 this year, I'll be surprised. First, if you find any at all and second if you can find that much for that price.
(I would very much like to be surprised, but ain't holding out much hope yet).

A friend recently told me he bought 2 cases of 9m for $678
EACH. He theorizes it will never be cheaper and his sons are both shooters.
Everyone I have talked to at the range is worried about programs the new Prez has talked about and haven't mentioned the China virus. The virus won't be with as long (hopefully) so hope that is the culprit,

As commodity pricers are higher prices back to where they were are not likely going to happen.

Even the reloading Equipment is getting hard to get. This is up on Accurate arms' site (Redding dealer):
"AS OF 02-15-2021 - REDDING IS CURRENTLY RUNNING APPROXIMATELY 18-20 WEEKS ON NEW ORDERS. (SUBJECT TO CHANGE) [...]
REDDING HAS ALSO RECENTLY ANNOUNCED THAT ANY OUT OF STOCK CUSTOM DIES AND ANY OUT OF STOCK SAECO PRODUCT WILL HAVE A LEAD TIME OF 8-12 MONTHS MINIMUM."
Dillon has been outperforming their reset expectations in my experience but they too are saying 8-12 weeks on many items.
There is a Lot of competition for the components. Early winter I had some insight that primers should be better this June but I'm getting skeptical.

I wonder which country all of these companies source their cast or forged major components from?

Covid-19. It originated in China so some people call it the China Virus just like Asian Bird Flue and Spanish Flue before it. President Trump took all kinds of heat for calling it that because the other side doesn't want to offend China.Bigtrout wrote:What's a China virus?Colt71 wrote:

One of the craziest things I just saw on eBay was 20 EMPTY plastic 100 round .22LR boxes that sold for $100.00 $5.00 each makes me think about digging mine out of their hiding place.

I really needed small pistol primers and I just paid $350 for 3000 and I thought I was getting bad deal.

Re: This prices on 9mm on GB are nuts
$350 for 3000 is a steal. Local reloading store finally got the primers in they ordered last May. Supposedly had paid upfront for them, $100,000. They are asking $1675/case because that's what they're getting on eBay for them and will only sell by the case. Crazy. If I could find 1000 CCI 450's I might be tempted to pay a couple hundred though sad to say. Will be interesting to see if more trade type deals pop up. 1000 for 1000 of some other size

Charging $1675 per case for your local customers is about as scummy as it gets. Their customers should shop elsewhere even after prices go down. I don't necessarily mind seeing an auction go high but to just come out and price a case for 10x normal cost to your local customers that support you year round is just shitty.

Yeah, wish he would sell cheaper but I do kind of understand. Just a guy and his wife and he was trying to get stock as it ran out. Having $100k out for 8 months and not getting much of anything to actually sell is tough. He usually has good prices on stuff, powder/primers less than online and done me right on other stuff.

The shop might be just passing on their own cost. Maybe
I was at a LGS a few weeks ago and this particular shop required the purchase of a 50BMG cartridge for $4 with every box of ammo. My buddy and I teased the clerk until he said their distributor will only sell them handgun ammo if they buy so many cans of 50BMG per case. That $4 was on top of over $1 for each S&B FMJ handgun cartridge in the box. Of course the distributor requirements could have been just another story.

Andy,
Was that the big gun shop on the west side off of Rt. 55 heading toward Chicago? It was shooting range too. There was a Gander Mountain at the same exit that I bought some guns from.
