you can buy a new Baikal 46m from Krales for 570 or an american version from air venturi for 599. All of these are new. I bought from Krale and got it in 3 days.

I had an IZH 46 and it's a very fine and accurate single stroke air gun. I was able to shoot 530s-540s with it consistently, and I'm sure it can shoot a perfect score if a shooter is capable of it Smile
The only problem was (as with most Soviet/Russian guns) the grip, so after spending some time trying to find a cheaper option I had to spend additional $250 for a Rink grip. So I ended up spending almost the same amount of money as a used PCP in decent condition would cost. The Air Venturi version looks decent but I never handled one.

If you find one, a Feinwerkbau m65 or m80 is a really robust choice.
SSP:s can suffer from faulty seals giving erratic velocities, a spring piston gun will give lower velocities with bad seals but they tend to be more consistent shot to shot.
I wish I still had my m80...

A Daisy 717 or 747 is a great start.

I have an AV-46M and the grip is pretty nice. I needed to round off the top edge of the palm shelf and also the upper edge of the grip where it rides over the thumb bone, but only a little. I also added putty below the trigger, where it contacts the middle finger, like I need to do with all my ortho grips.

With those edits, I'm shooting it happily and have not yet been tempted to email Herr Rink Smile

Do you want to compete in 10m air matches or use it as a tool to work on shot process? I have an IZH-46m that is fantastic, however it is somewhat tiring if you are shooting a 60 shot match. I have a rink on mine major improvement, that said though for marginally more money you are in used precharged pneumatic territory. I think I saw a few Morini 162's sell here for a ball park $1000 plus or minus, much better choice if you are going to shoot matches.

The 46 is a good starter tool, I still have mine. If you do go with PCP, spend the money for Steyr. You will be money ahead in the long run. They are easy to service. If you look at air gun forums, you are always seeing people with $1200 guns that leak, that they either can't get apart, or find spares. I would buy a used Steyr before a new Walther/Hammerli. I speak from Hammerli experience.

I just purchased, although not yet received it, a Morini 162. When I get it I will be selling one of two Daisy's which I have. I have a Daisy 747 and a 777. Both guns are excellent, and very accurate. Both have Lothar Walther barrels, both have adjustable sights, both have slightly adjustable triggers. Both are single side pump guns. They are not toys. I purchased the 747 new from Gil Hebard many years ago.

The differences as best I can determine are:

747 has plastic grips, sights are not as refined as the 777 sights. 747 is lighter.
777 has wood grips, more refined sights.

I will sell either but not both. Both look like new, shoot like new. I did sand a flat spot on the bottom of the 777 grips, so the gun will rest upright on the bench. The bottom was rounded and I found that annoying, as it wanted to rock. (I'll add pics shortly)

I am reluctant to put prices here, since this is not the WTS/WTB section. DM me and I will reply. When I receive my Morini, I will post these in the WTS/WTB section. Should be in just a few days.

Just as an aside, I seem to be the only person who thinks the Baikal grip is perfect; I even made a replica years ago for my LP10. Sadly, now I have to shoot left-handed; it's like starting all over again!

The baikal grip was large. I worked on it with my dremel and it fits almost as good as the custom grip on my S&W model 41. Took a llttle work, but worth it.
shooting at 10 m with a red dot, routinely shoot 85-95  per target without spending big money on ammo, no need for a high pressure compressor or scuba tank. Cocking the gun is no bid deal. usually shoot ten targets a night so 100 shots.
