Bullet pulling
Back in the late 80s when I began competing "across the course" with a National Match M14, brass was hard to find. The M14 was notoriously hard on brass with military brass lasting through many more reloads than commercial brass. Our solution was to buy ball ammunition, pull the 147 grain bullets, reduce the powder load, and put it all back together with 168 grain match bullets. Today, we have a powder and primer shortage. I'm wondering if in the future I'll be forced to buy a case of .45 ball ammunition and perform the same surgery to get match ammo. I hope not, it was a lot of work.

If it comes to that, put a heavier spring in your wad gun and just shoot the ball ammo. Learning to shoot full power ball ammo is very good training for recoil management. The accuracy difference shouldn't matter to a shooter until they are at Master class.

Dan, that would be too easy! How will I overcomplicate my life without all of that bullet pulling!

If it comes to that, cast your own, or have a casting party
