MG2E Match Guns First Shots Empty MG2E Match Guns First Shots

Post by Jon Eulette Thu Aug 19, 2021 2:45 am

I just picked up a new MG2E. It’s the electronic trigger version of the MG2 which is mechanical.
I adjusted the trigger to get my second stage down to about 1/2 pound and NRA weights held two pounds on the trigger.
It’s much simpler to adjust the electronic version.
I had previously stated in another post that it has a very fast trigger reset. It’s crazy short. The take up can be adjusted to almost zero.
So I just went out and shot the pistol for function fire. Put up a 25 Yard target and shot the following;
30 CCI SV
20 Aguila Super Extra
20 Eley Match OSP pink box
20 Eley Club orange box
20 SK Standard Plus yellow box

Pistol functioned perfectly.
I was shooting 5 shot RF in 5-6 seconds. They were breaking nice and fast and I wasn’t slinging them.

The recoil varied between the ammunition shot. I was holding semi loose and aiming at 6 o’clock. The Eley’s recoiled to the top of the bull. The other ammunition recoiled to top of the repair center. I was shooting with iron sights. I’m waiting on optic mounts right now that are being fab’d . I use an Aimpoint 9000 and take the barrel weights off the pistol when using an optic. My other MG2’s recover right back to center with the optic mounted. I had tried using the Aimpoint Micro H1 but like the 9000 better for the ease of recovery back to the X.
The electronic trigger doesn’t offer the same feedback as the mechanical trigger when squeezing. I need to learn more about the setup.
The Match Guns factory has been listening to our griping about a few issues that have affected the reliability of these pistols. This shipment is by far the best EVO order.
The grips run slightly large in my opinion and are very nice for factory grips.
I’m looking forward to spending more time with this pistol and playing with the trigger adjustments.
If you’re a first time user of the Guns, they take a little getting used to, but once you make friends lookout Pardini! I just had to say that lol.
Happy Shooting!

beautiful gun........congrats. I'd like to see it with an optic when you get mounted up.
I too think the grips are real nice.

That's some kinda nice right there. I like it.
It's cool looking. Watched a video of it and looks like it barely moves during recoil.

Magazine in grip or is it a top loader like Walther?

I had not heard of seeing where a loose grip recoils to before

What's the point of it?

I wasn’t muscling the pistol to reduce/control the recoil. Just thought if someone wanted to compare my results with their own pistol.
Tube fed magazine from the bottom forward of trigger guard.

Here is a pic of mine from the last batch (mechanical trigger). First let me say that I love the gun and it shoots very well.  Best trigger I have tried IMHO and the grip is very good.  My scores improved immediately after shooting it and I expect they will accelerate as I shoot it more. It is a beautiful and unique gun. Mine was possibly the only one from the last batch that did not function well out of the box. I sent it to Jon under warranty and he made it work flawlessly. Thanks Jon!  Mine shoots best with CCISV as far as accuracy goes. All ammunition I have tried now function in the gun perfectly.  I tried SK Standard (second best accuracy), SK Semi Auto Pistol Match (worst accuracy), SK Semi Auto Rifle, Eley Target, Eley Club Extra and Fiochi Official 320. Also included a picture of my target at 50 yards from sand bag rest. X ring is two inches right? So no excuse for less than 10x!!?? MG2E Match Guns First Shots 74a43e10

Jon, would be interesting to know if you experience any issues with the electronics on the trigger as time progresses. I’ve had a discussion or two on that subject with Kang prior….hopefully none.

Tony, we will see. It’s my first electronic trigger. Gonna have to put lotsa mileage on it to see how it fares. The lock time is much faster than the mechanical trigger. Will be interesting to see if any difference on the long line. Will do a lot of side by side shooting with the mechanical trigger. But off to a good start.

Wes,
I'll have to get back to you on that in a few days. Pistol has lots of aluminum, so its not too heavy. Receiver, top cover and barrel shroud are aluminum. Typically MG2 has steel shroud and barrel weights on each side of the shroud.
I went 9000 for smoother recoil and recovery.

Jon I am interested in you Anschutz/Bentz barrel. Is it a one off? I did not know anyone was making alternate barrels. How did you come to get it? Is it more accurate than the MG2 barrel? If so what kind of accuracy ar you getting? Where can I get one and cost? PM me off line if necessary. Thanks.

So long as you keep the trigger weight 2lbs should be fine. I have seen them on the line before.
