S&W 52 magazine search
Getting back into target shooting, I picked up a S&W 52-1 last winter, but it came with only one magazine. No big deal I thought to myself, I’ll find another for a few buck. Big surprise. These thing are like hen’s teeth. Well I finally found one (in Canada) seven months later for $90 CAD online at a well known gun shop and quickly bought it sight unseen, but it wasn’t a 52 Mag when I went to pick it up. Bummer. I did another quick google search and found one recently posted from another online store for again $90 CAD, and this time it was the real McCoy. I almost bought a second (well used) 52 gun just for the additional mags (advertised with four). So why are these things so scarce and (relatively) expensive?

Re: S&W 52 magazine search
The high price for 52 mags is driven by a couple of things. First there are no aftermarket mags so factory mags are the only option. The other reason is that most bullseye shooters want half a dozen of them and the guns originally came with two mags. Through that and attrition you end up with 150 dollar mags. Good luck with your 52.

Makes sense, supply vs demand. The 52 must still be popular. I know I enjoy shooting mine. Thanks.

I found that mags for the Sig P-240 will work in the Mod 52. You do have to cut a slot in the magazine for the magazine release will hold it in place, Not really an inexpensive solution, but if you have both pistols, it could give you additional options. since the alterations to the Sig clip does not effect the function in the P240. Of course, I am talking of the P240 in 38 spl only.
