Any leagues Gulf Coast of FL?
Hello, all!
I just posted my Introduction and now I am hoping some members might assist me in my first venture as a returning shooter:
We are beginning to winter in Venice FL and I AM NOW IN SEARCH OF ANY LEAGUES - indoor or out - where I might meet and shoot with other precision-minded shooters in the area of FL from Sarasota down to Port Charlotte / Punta Gorda
Most of all, Thanks for the vast amount of knowledge and experience here - much respected and appreciated!

There is a 2700 held every week usually on Sundays at Wyoming Antelope Club in Clearwater.

Re: Any leagues Gulf Coast of FL?
Hey Mark - I got your Private Message but, when I tried to reply I was reminded new members here must wait 7 days before sending external messages or posting links - only makes sense really and I can see why Board Mods have that rule in place.
Anyhoo, I didn’t want to wait 4 or 5 more days to let you know I got your LM and to say, THANK YOU so very much!
I used to shoot 2700’s in MD and made it to Perry in the late 80’s and 90’s but, then my career took over my life. As luck would have it, I survived my commitment and retired in 2017 and the next day we moved to Lake Rhodhiss in Western Carolina (close to Hickory, NC)
We intend to start spending Jan - Mar in Venice each year and WAC sounds like just the kind of people we belong with and the world I grew up in!
We had to return to WNC last week cutting or 2022 FL getaway short but, we already have our houses reserved for 2023 and 2024!
I am tapping 560 on our WNC home club’s 50-ft indoor course with my dotted 41 (and some RWS Match 22 l lucked into!) but, it’ll be interesting for me (and possibly for anyone on either side of my target! ) to get my wad and hardball 1911’s out again after all these years. But, my all-time favorites - to shoot at 25yds - are my Model 52’s …
Thanks again for reach out to me (precision pistol shooters are the classiest people on our planet) - - I am very VERY excited about meeting and shooting with y’all in 2023 and beyond!

Re: Any leagues Gulf Coast of FL?
I also have been searching for Bullseye shooting in or near Venice, haven't found anything besides WAC and even asked someone who runs the matches there if he knew of anything, he didn't. I plan to move down to stay before winter and am finding it is disappointing the amount of shooting there is on the West Coast, I like both Bullseye (yes I know they don't call it that anymore) and Highpower. All the longer ranges are North and on the East Coast. Almost considered moving to the East Coast but there are plenty of golf courses around Venice which is another one of my vices.
Thor, if anything turns up closer to Venice please let me know, was hoping to find a 50foot range that has a league, thanks.

Howdy, Bob!
I will do! East Coast (actually anywhere other than central Gulf Coast) was a non-starter for us. First, we have friends and kin in that area but primarily, Brohard County maintains a “Bark Beach” at “Paws Park” where we can let our four legged kid run free with the other dawgs, daily.
(No one who really knows me ever questions that I rent a house in FL 2 to 3 months every winter just so my wife’s dog can run free on the beach! )
Sporting clays is my other vice and for that I have Bermont Shooting Club (also a pistol range) 40 mins SE in Punta Gorda and then also Sarasota Skeet & Trap, to the north.
Have a great weekend!

Re: Any leagues Gulf Coast of FL?
Why, THANK YOU! James!
I clearly remember seeing mention of Knight’s Trail when I searched via the NSSF’s “WhereToShoot” search site ( https://www.wheretoshoot.org/ ) AND my wife and I passed it on our way into Sarasota Skeet & Trap some years ago but, we only caught a glimpse of the range as we idled by … we’re heading back down in Feb/Mar ‘23 so, I am putting Knight Trail Park on my “To Shoot” list
To be honest, I didn’t find a lot of info about that range years ago so, I’d kind of forgotten it. Your recommend is a perfect illustration of the power of shooters helping shooters via forums like this one!
Thank you, again!

Re: Any leagues Gulf Coast of FL?
Does anyone have a contact for Bullseye at Wyoming Antelope Club? I would like to start getting up there for Sunday matches but I just want to get a confirmation since it is 2.5 hour drive for me. I called the contact on the website but didn't get a hold of anyone.
Thanks!
Lake
Thanks!

Re: Any leagues Gulf Coast of FL?
I thought I saw a contact in their website Calendar; I check for you now …
Edit: nope, apparently not
We may need to either email the Club President: president@pinellasoutdoorshootingrange.com or,
call the Main # to get that specific Match Coordinator’s contact info.
From the website: (727) 573-3006
Closed Mondays
9:00am – 1:00pm – Tuesdays
9:00am – 1:00pm – Wednesdays
9:00am – 1:00pm – Thursdays
9:00am – 8:00pm – Fridays
9:00am – 5:00pm – Saturdays
9:00am – 5:00pm – Sundays
You got me beat, for me it’s about 1-1/2 hour drive from our winter rental in Venice - and involves toll$ - but, I wouldn’t be a precision shooter if I didn’t enjoy getting punished!

Re: Any leagues Gulf Coast of FL?
You can visit the Wyoming Antelope Club website at https://pinellasoutdoorshootingrange.com and then click on "calendar" on the top of the home page for their bullseye/precision pistol matches each month. Practice (unofficial) 2700 matches are generally held on most Sundays at 9:00 am, with an approved 2700 match on one Saturday each month. The next approved match is Saturday, March 26. The 50-yard bullseye range is located behind the public line. For safety they ask that you keep your shots within the scoring rings. Let me know if you want further contact information before coming.

jjessip, THANK YOU!
I look forward to meeting you (we return in Feb-Mar, ‘23)!

Now, ^that^ is both reasonable and practical, from every standpoint!
