Rear Sight Leaf Pin Gold Cup NM 70 series ( Elliason sight)

The original pin has an intentional curve to it.  When replacing it is there a particular direction the curved portion should face?

The original series 70 Gold Cups came with a roll pin to hold the rear sight. The roll pins used to work their way out with recoil. Back in the day, when Colt had real gunsmiths and sent them to Camp Perry, anyone who took their series 70 Gold Cup in to the Colt gunsmith got the roll pin replaced with a piece of solid drill rod and the gunsmith put a little "crook" in it. Don't get me started on how good, plentiful and cheap the meals were at the old mess hall, when Army cooks were on duty preparing the chow!

I have a pre-70 series with a solid pin that's slightly long. Just peen the ends slightly and it won't work its way loose.
