New to .45
I am new to .45 and want to start with a good out of the box entry level .45. I am considering the Rock Island Match F/S.Does anyone have any experience, Knowledge or opinion of this gun?

Not sure about the Rock Island.
However if I was going to start fresh as a beginner.
I would purchase the Springfield Range Officer.

Spend the few extra hundred and get a Springfield range officer, it is in every way better than a rock island. It comes with a match grade adjustable sight, tight frame to slide fit, true match grade barrel and has been tested by many and proven to be accurate at 50 yards, watch some of the you tube videos, they sell for 750.00-850.00 depending on where you buy and are hands down the best out of the box gun for 1500.00 and under for bullseye

I agree with the Springfield Range Officer, as I bought one specifically to modify for EIC matches. It really does work well. It is not as finely tuned as a Les Baer, so shoot it a lot before you get into competition. I did do a trigger job to mine. It runs a consistent 4lb 2oz with every trigger pull. The sights really are nice.

I have other Rock Islands, and like them, but I never tried their target versions. If the Rock Island isn't $550 or less, get the Springfield range officer. The RO retail price is $750, and I think the brand name brings $200 in resale value alone.
