Why would you want to make a barrel with a slower twist?Mainiac wrote:When is somebody going to make a slow twist match barrel,,for the sig210 american??
If anything, I'd think you'd want one with a faster twist.

IMHO, there is nothing wrong with the OEM slow twist barrel in the SIG P210 American, as long as you use appropriate ammo. I found that 147JHP bullets over 4.3 of Power Pistol at about 920fps produced excellent groups and very comfortable recoil impulse.
It did not shoot as well with higher velocity 115 bullet ammo and the recoil was much snappier.
YMMV

Ya,,exactly,,,my 210 shoots 133 -140 exellent,at 800 fps,,
Id like to shoot lighter 115 or so,,and would like a slower twist.this thing feels just like a 38 special,at these low speeds,,love it!!

Re: Sig 210 barrell
Hmmm.
I might be wrong, but from what has been said by others more expert than me on this forum, for 115 bullets to shoot well the velocity has to be much higher (more than 1000fps) and a fast twist (1:16) barrel is best for that recipe.
The OEM P210 barrel is, AFAIK, 1:32. About as slow twist as you can get for a pistol.
Just sayin.

I highly doubt you will be able to stabilize lighter bullet with slower 9mm barrel. It is pretty much as shooting barrel with no rifling at all. So instead of bastardizing historically most accurate pistol in the world, you might want to check new Russian caliber .345 TK
It used oval shaped barrel with no rifling and bullets that are very close to 9.mm (8.75mm)

American 210 has a 10 twist barrell.
Kkm makes a 1911 barrell,30 twist.

I have about a dozen of Swiss and German made P210 including P210-5LS Heavy Frame. None like 115gr bullets. 124gr and up is preferred diet.
BTW -German's Master Shop SIGs (P226X5/X6) also do not like 115gr bullets.

Re: Sig 210 barrell
I stand corrected. I just checked. Yes the P210 does have 1:10 twist.
I had a custom SIG 1911 with a KKM 1:32 Barrel and that gun did indeed prefer high velocity 115 ammo.
But. The P210 shoots so nicely with slow heavy bullets I would just keep it original.

The 147 XTP in the P210A is a winner. I used Alliant e^3 about 3.4 gr to get 925 fps MV, OAL 1.100". It will group well at 50 and 25 yards.
