Looking for a source for an extended firing pin specifically for a S&W 617-4 (22 rimfire) revolver.

My smith, Pinnacle in PA, put a centerfire extended FP in my 617 and I was not getting 100% ignition. I went back to the original FP. These 617's can be real finicky with ignition. I am unaware of an extended FP made just for the 617. Good luck!

Source for S&W 617 extended firing pin Empty 617 Firing pin

I have a 617-4 that had bad problems with misfires from brand new. I just lived with it until I wanted to use it as my primary bullseye gun. Some how I figured out the firing pin was shorter than spec. Called S&W's service dept. They sent me a new one of the correct length and the misfires have pretty much disappeared. Mine was about .002" short. Don't remember the actual dimension.

Thanks good info...I just ordered a couple of Power Custom extended pins to experiment with. Also aware that I shouldn't dry fire with the extended pin because it could strike/damage the 617 cylinder.

Figure having the extra pins isn't a bad idea since I have a few other S&W revolvers that could potentially use them.
