What the... well that's new...
Was doing some velocity testing yesterday and the trigger started feeling wierd, take up was heavier, and had a mushy feeling to it... thought it's imagination. Kept getting heavier for a few more rounds them locked up and gun wouldn't fire, but I couldn't get the slide back far enough to eject the round either.... well, this is unnerving...
Got it back far enough to pull the top end off, then pulled the lower apart and a little piece fell out... well, never seen that before...

Strang that it happened, and even stranger it didn't happen in a match.

As good as Titanium is for other applications not so good in some gun parts.
1911 firing pins and hammer struts are two of them.

Hmmm. I've had EGW Ti struts in 1911s for about 20 years without issue. Is this a common issue I am just hearing about?

Depends on the specific alloy of Titanium.Rodger Barthlow wrote:As good as Titanium is for other applications not so good in some gun parts.

Yeah, but the manufactures don't say what alloy it is and just put the Ti stamp on it to get more money.Wobbley wrote:Depends on the specific alloy of Titanium.Rodger Barthlow wrote:As good as Titanium is for other applications not so good in some gun parts.

EGW sells good stuff and I'm sure it's made from the right alloy for the job intended.

I take it that's where you got the hammer strut.10sandxs wrote:I beg to differ ;-)
