Excellent presentation. It doesn't discuss the deviations caused by TIMs or Trigger Induced Motion. I'm not sure how this was produced but You can see a bit of muzzle flip at the end of the video. You want the gun to stay closely centered as the shot fires. The guns are unreasonably still so in reality you want wobble towards center as the shot is firing. It will sling in. A centered but moving gun will not give a 10. Look for the AMU rapid d fire video with an M9, more god stuff

Fun typo. A young Adam Sokolowski was shooting that in the CMP Mind Over Matter video set.

I like the underlined part above too, as I have heard this mentioned or alluded to in the past by top shooters.

Still, I like to have videos that help explain precision pistol aiming and firing to new shooters.

This video was made using separate layers in Adobe Photoshop and screen recording as the layers are shifted on screen (or some similar technique).  You can see the coordinate dialog box changing as the “sights” layer is dragged across the screen in front of the “target” layer.

The “muzzle flip” is just simulated that is why it is so dramatic.  None of it is done with a live camera.  It is simple, but effective animation.

I have that book.  It is quite impressive, very high quality printing in hardcover, and informative, with good color photos throughout.

Here is link to it.

Excellent video! Question- is a 6 o'clock hold, or a sub 6 o'clock hold "better"?
Is that choice an individual one, or is the sub 6 hold as shown the way champions shoot?
I prefer 6 o'clock hold, with the front sight just touching the bottom of the black.
Can we take a vote?

In broad strokes...

Air Pistol and 50 Meter Pistol - sub 6 o'clock for precision lowering into the aiming area.

Rapid Fire and Standard Pistol - Center Hold for speed rising into the aiming area.

However, with a little research you may note that I'm not showing too high in match results so try whatever gives good results for you.

Annnnd with tangent holds, you’re likely to end up measuring. I’m a sub six guy one, for better sight definition and two, to allow best use of area aiming. If I drift into the black, it distracts me.

I have the above MEC pistol book. It didn’t talk much about grip. In my book, I did.
