Hammer Strut Pin?
I need to attach a 1911 hammer strut to the hammer.
1. Is the diameter of the pin standard and will fit all brands of hammers?
2. Is there any special method of tapping the pin in?
3. Lastly, where can I get a hammer strut pin?
Thank you,
Norman

Try Brownells. They have about everything you need.

Recently ordered a set of five (5) from Brownells. Seems to be one size fits all. While they may be lightly staked in with a center punch it is not required. The frame will hold the pin in. Danger is if you don't stake the pin it can fall out when you remove the hammer from the frame.

All the same, should take light to moderate pressure to remove with a steel punch, if its loose then stake it at each end.

Depends on the specs of the hammer strut and the pin that you buy. I've had them fall into place and other I've had to start a taper so I could pound them in. If it's too tight it's easy to enlarge the strut hole with a round jeweler's file.
If it's loose make sure you stake the pin.
