Is it possible to swap out a Clark Bomar tuner rib for a non-tuner scope rib? Or was the slide itself  modified to accept the tuner rib?  I've owned the Clark sight rib (without tuner cutout) for a while, and I'm wondering if it could be pressed into service.  Thanks

Check out Marvel custom guns, sight rails  they have a rib that bolts right on where the bomar was, they sell two different ones for the old style bomar and the newer version, and imo is a much better design that other makers. see them here

Steve,

The tuner is what gives your barrel it's vertical lockup. If the tuner is not in the pistol it will shoot poorly. The Bomar tuners made it possible to get an old stock Colt barrel to lockup vertically. I highly recommend you don't remove the tuner portion of the sight/scope rib.

Thanks, Joh.  I know Clark still sells a scope mount rib with the tuner cutout.  Perhaps that's the way to go.

Steve,

Is the slide on your gun equipped with a tuner that is on the slide weather the rib is on the gun or not?  Can you attach a photo of the top of your slide?

Steve,
You should retain the tuner, it returns the brl to the correct position after firing. Unless of course you are having a 'smith refitting the brl lockup. Clark sells a rib which is cutout for the tuner.

Ron,

I'm still not sure if Steve's gun is equipped with a tuner at all.  A picture of the top of his slide would clear this up.
