$140 for a brass catcher? What a joke.

It might seem pricy but they are by far the most common one you will see on the bullseye ranges.  I made my own for under $20 I think but I don’t have good luck catching brass with any of them so I usually just use mine when I practice.

Since you set up your box on your right, you could make the net frame and then devise a clamp of some sort to attach it to the lid.  That would keep costs down since you wouldn’t need the telescoping rod plus the heavy base.

I have a CMM brass catcher, it is solid and easy to set up.  In my opinion it is worth the price.

Most brass catchers are attached to an ammo can, or sitting on the bench with a heavy base. I don't like the heavy base, but it usually keeps the catcher on the bench during high winds.
I made several catchers that did not work well, before I bought a CMM. I hope your journey is shorter than mine.
