Aimpoint and 22 conversion Empty Aimpoint and 22 conversion

Are the Aimpoint reddot sights really that much better than a ultradot?  Looking at getting a new pistol built by a bullseye pistol gunsmith and was wanting to top it off with a great reddot.
Question 2! What are the thoughts about having a 22 conversion mated to the new 45 build?

I have a Primary Arms Gen II for sale with shades and rear Diopter, I would rate it right up there with the Aim Point H2. In fact the dot might be a little nicer and it has an auto shut off.

Primary Arms definitely not near the quality of the H1 optics. I use PA on my guns I rarely shoot. Aimpoints on all my go to guns! I use both H1 and 9000. Will never use UD at an important match…..have had two break mid match.

Aimpoint is better especially in adverse conditions like rain, they are waterproof down to 15 feet.  I wouldn't worry about an Aimpoint fogging up on me but an Ultradot is a whole other story.

That said, an Aimpoint also costs 3 times as much as an Ultradot so you're really comparing a dot that is a good value (Ultradot) against a dot that is built to be extremely reliable and durable in all environments.  If money isn't an issue then get the Aimpoint.

As far as the conversion, I'd recommend getting one.  I shoot my Nelson conversion for the .22 portion of matches and also put it on my service pistol on a regular basis.

Best of both on an AXI conversion lower (not pictured).

Only negative IMHO is weight- Aimpoint is a lot heavier, a good thing on a light pistol, not so much on one already heavy.

I never liked that Aimpoint would pretty much abandon (not support) older models after new models came out. Maybe that has changed.

Contrary to this statement, my real life experience was totally different.  Aimpoint took care of my very old Comp XD dot, and there was no charge for service.

I use 2 moa dot on all my pistols. I think 4 moa is for shooters with extremely good hold only. Covers too much black.

I have aimpoints on four guns.
They are lighter and more compact than the matchdots. Batteries last over a year, even if you never shut them off.
Aimpoint has been good for service.
You can buy them from Krale for a few hundred less than the places here and it comes in a few days.
Bought one last month with piccatiny mount for $550 including shipping, but I think the prices have moved up a little lately, probably due to changes in exchange rate.
