If they were really 1x, your math holds, most are less than 1 so they reduce the image seen.TonyH wrote:I would help but I’m still trying to do the math…

It seems that with most Ultra Dots, you'd actually be doing this equation: 1 x .95 = ?

Ok, u guys stop confusing me….now I’ll have to use common core math to figure it out!Black_Talon wrote:TonyH wrote:I would help but I’m still trying to do the math…

In doing the mathematical equation it’s easiest to calculate with the non-dominant eye ️ closed!

I too don't understand adding 1X magnification, adds nothing, clear glass will work but then why add the glass?
However if because you have an UltraDot that has - magnification like .93 mentioned you might want to try a large local dealer that will allow you to look thru the UlrarDots they have in stock. There are some with slight + magnification. Larry"s Guns at Perry would allow the guys to look thru the scope to check for magnification. Quite a while ago I did have one that guessing had 1.5X, at least there was more than 1X

Re: ULTRA DOT MAGNIFIER
The real question at hand is does a 0.05 reduction in perceived target size make a difference on one’s hold on target, subsequent trigger break and how the shot scores….to me personally, it is of zero consequence.
In another thread we discussed using reduced aiming blacks to help tighten hold on target….the scope does it for you to a minor extent is a bonus!

I have seven Vortex Venom 3 MOA Dots all which show positive magnification. Enough so that I thought I mistakenly hung a 50 yd. target at the short line. I like ‘em.

Re: ULTRA DOT MAGNIFIER
The difference in my case to slight negative magnification is peripheral view. That is as looking at the target the other targets on the right and left are seen in peripheral vision, they are larger than the target in the scope yet if there is a slight magnification it is not noticeable as much probably because the brain thinks the target in the scope should be larger or possibly do to some type of aspect ratio. I too like the slight magnification.
