Picatinny barrel weight
Actually they don't exist but consider the alternatives: 90 bucks for a tungsten guide rod that adds 1.5 ounces. Or buy a steel frame gun instead of polymer for an extra 3-5 hundred bucks. A lot of money to keep those sights a little more steady. How about 10 or 15 bucks for a piece of lead with a Picatinny mount? Mount under the barrel. I think that would sell. I'd buy at least one. Just putting a small light on my Canik helps my groups a little. Your thoughts?

Hiya,
Or you can use a scope ring and a piece of 1” round stainless mounted to an add-on Pic rail mount like I did to get the Marvel to have enough mass to damp the small fast twitch movements and also bring it close to the weight of my heavy CF and 45 1911 rib guns.

Why not just buy a bullseye worthy pistol in the first place and you don't have to hoop jump to get it right?
Bull barrels have been available since the 60's (50's?) on 22 pistols. Bomar ribs made the 1911's into heavy slides as they were known. Now Aimpoint 9000's are adding the WEIGHT (yeah heavy).
I will admit on my 208S I tried the H1 and various barrel weights until I chose the factory 80 gr weight with a 9000 to get it just right. 208's are not very muzzle heavy. But it doesn't look like somebody went to the hardware store and added a steel collar to the barrel on a Marvel conversion (Greg LOL).

My budget doesn't let me go there. My range guns are 2 polymer Caniks & a Ruger MK3 22/45. The Ruger is fine. The Caniks could use a little weight up front. Especially the one with a red dot sight. I read of one shooter taking the batteries out of his light & filling it with lead shot. Then mounting it on the rail. Not a bad idea actually. Sounds goofy but looks traditional & he says he shoots better.

Get one of these and use a cheap 1 inch scope ring to mount it on the Pic rail forward of the trigger. https://shop.tungsten.com/tungsten-crankshaft-balance-weight-1-00-dia-x-1-20-long-0-575-lbs/?utm_term=&utm_campaign=%7Bcampaign%7D&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&hsa_acc=7470597278&hsa_cam=17943107453&hsa_grp=&hsa_ad=&hsa_src=x&hsa_tgt=&hsa_kw=&hsa_mt=&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gclid=CjwKCAjwivemBhBhEiwAJxNWNwhCzRNxr_fRYHaqlbnBG5YnMSfU4ZpQKY_KjeS2x0q4hoiA_hat5BoCObcQAvD_BwE

If you are trying to stay on the cheap, lead wheel weights or find a chunk of lead. Tungsten is expensive and much harder to work with.

A guy used to work with was a pretty serious Skeet shooter at the state level. He had an old 12 gauge Remington 1100 with wheel weights taped to the end of the barrel with black electrical tape.
All the guys with the Kolars and Perazzi's would snicker at him..
And he would kick their asses.

That's a great idea, thanks. I got the scope ring today. Shopping for the weight now.tomd999 wrote:Hiya,

I believe the factory barrel weights for the H208s are 80 and 200/210? gram. I can't believe there's nothing in between. I took off the Knapp mount and scope and would like to shoot iron sights. Any recommendations for a barrel weight between the 80 and 200 gram?

Re: Picatinny barrel weight
I think you are correct Norman. I once made a new weight for Steve Reiter. There is also the 300 gram weight, which I use for irons.xmastershooter wrote:I believe the factory barrel weights for the H208s are 80 and 200/210? gram. I can't believe there's nothing in between. You might get a 200 and have it lightened internally to get desired weight.

Re: Picatinny barrel weight
A friend sent me a beautiful barrel weight many years ago which was most likely a factory Hammerli 300 gram weight in which his gunsmith drilled holes and added slots to reduce some weight. It is a work of art. I will modify this a bit more for my grand senior hold. Thanks for the suggestion Jon.
