Pardini SP 22 vs Walther GSP
Has anyone compared these side by side at the range?

Re: Pardini SP 22 vs Walther GSP
Yep. Have both.
Differences:
- Grip angle
- If for bullseye, dot height.
- Weight and adjustment - I have tungsten weights for my 4-weight Nygord Pardini and use 2 of them and 2 steel. The GSP I only have the steel buffer weights for but also have the bolt-on weight with 2 buffers. That makes it too nose-heavy for me.
Both have excellent, almost-infinitely adjustable triggers. Both shoot cleans when you can.
You cannot reliably shoot longer ammo (like CCI SV) in the Pardini. It hangs up in the magazine.

Thank you very much for the information!
Have you found the Pardini grip angle to affect your shooting with other equipment?
Further, would you happen to know if the recent Walther 500 is much different from the Expert?

If you are concerned about that, you might want to look at .22 conversions for the 1911.tony.wireless@gmail.com wrote:Have you found the Pardini grip angle to affect your shooting with other equipment?
Especially if you plan on shooting a 1911 for .45.

Re: Pardini SP 22 vs Walther GSP
I'm looking for a pistol for ISSF 25-meter rapid fire. However, as I shoot also several USPSA disciplines, the single stack being my main game, I’m trying to understand if Pardini is (as it has a reputation for) very different in terms of the grip angle even among its peers Walther, Benelli MP90 S, etc.

Note Pardini grip angle CAN be adjusted by inserting shim(s) between grip and body. Not in a huge way, but still helpful.

Rink make a more 1911'ish "upright" grip for the SP/HP Series. I have them on all of my Pardini's.
The older Walther's are also relatively upright. Not sure about current version. As far as I know all of the other Euro guns are not upright.
IMHO, the Pardini is the most reliable, by far the easiest to clean, very adjustable trigger (but requires skill to get just right), iron sights are excellent, parts and service readily available, resale value excellent. No contest!

Correction. The Hammerli 208 series with CMM adapter is very close to 1911. And, I think, the current xesse and similar can be adapted. More difficult with Benelli, FWB, etc (but I don't have personal experience with those).
But, if 1911 angle and feel is your goal, then a 1911 with Marvel or Nelson conversion is obvious best choice.
IMHO.

Do you like the Expert enough to consider getting the 500 once it lands here? I guess I mean to ask if you would have to choose between Pardini and Walther, which one you'd leave?NukeMMC wrote:GSP500 is not in the USA yet
A consecutive question to my earlier comment, do you compete in other disciplines (like USPSA) that are totally different and use different equipment?

I have loaned my SP22 and GSP to others as my scores suffer using them vs my HS Victor. I have been shooting HS military models for almost 40 years, so the familiarity is hard to overcome and not worth it to me.
I used to shoot USPSA (Open B, Lim10 C). Going between pistols and disciplines is always a relearn experience. The fundamentals are always the same.
Olympians go from RF to Standard to Air pistol and excel. Bullseye shooters go from 22 to CF to 45 in the same day, frequently with different style pistols and excel.

I use Rink grips to both my 22RF and GSP500. I find them quite similar. The Pardini being the RFmodel is a bit heavier at the front and the GSP500 feels a bit "lighter" overall. Both performing equally great though!

Thank you for the intel. Do you mind sharing where you were able to secure a GPS500? I haven’t found on anywhere in the USA yet.
