Has anybody had experience with this target visualization device?

I have one and am very happy with it, but only for air.

Re: FreETarget
I tried to build one, but it never worked for me the way I wanted. Maybe I should try again
There's a very long conversation on TargetTalk: https://www.targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?t=62353&hilit=%2Afree%2Atarget%2A

Re: FreETarget
I've made some electronical projects, and I looked it over a few times but I was too stupid to make a go of it. For the same time and money I figured I'd be ahead just shooting air pistol at paper targets or dry fire on a scatt.

I built one. It works great for 10m air pistol.

Re: FreETarget
The freeE target seems to be a reasonable open source option, I considered building one but I was able to get a commercial target. Some things to keep in mind with E targets, at some level, they all have consumables. With that in mind what are you trying to accomplish with an electronic target? With the Free E target you still are shooting at paper (same issue with most other solutions), but the systems need to be calibrated and maintained. E targets often have network connectivity, also something to maintain and a potential source of issues.

Re: FreETarget
I would like a visual display at my shooting position to show the target and bullet hits. Rather familiar with electronics and optics, but 50 yd functionality is lacking.
Have modified spotting scopes with camera, and hard wired to video monitor, but 50 yd visibility is marginal.
Maybe a wifi camera downrange?
Open to ideas.

From what I can see, they use a whole lot of money in their sport!chiz1180 wrote:In that case look at what the long range rifle guys use.

The "shotmarker" systems in use arround here rely on the bullet's supersonic crack located by a set of microphones. I don't think that will work for pistol ammo, especially bullseye loads.

Re: FreETarget
The FreETarget system was designed for airgun pellets. They even mention that the flat wadcutter design of pellets makes a better impact sound for detection than a roundnose bullet.

Re: FreETarget
Yeah, but a system designed for a B-40 target probably will have some limitations when you are shooting a B-8.jwax wrote:From what I can see, they use a whole lot of money in their sport!chiz1180 wrote:In that case look at what the long range rifle guys use.
