New shooting venue in Alabama
This is a forward of a email about new option for bullseye in Al. Some may know the tuscolusa gun club had to re locate and won't be having matches in 2014. So this is great news that there still will be a state match and a regional: Hello Fellow Shooters,
I'd like to announce a new venue for NRA Bullseye matches in Alabama. The Magic City Gun Club will be hosting the 2014 Alabama State Championship on May 31 and June 1, The Magic City Regional on October 18 - 19, 2014, and monthly 2700 matches on April 5, May 3, July 19, August 2, September 6, andNovember 1. The State Championship and Regional will have team matches.
The range is located at 7069 Narrows Road, Pinson, AL. Lat/Long.: 33.7107 N 86.7122 W.
We have 30 firing points with stationary 50 yard frames and turning 25 yard frames. Matches will start at 9:00 AM.
I have attached the monthly program and will post the State and Regional programs later.
We're really excited about offering Bullseye in Alabama at this location again and I hope you have the opportunity to come and enjoy our hospitality.

Good deal! I had heard that this was going to happen. That is where I started my bullseye shooting. Won my last 10 points for my distinguished badge there. Shot my first 2600 there too. Guess that will be where I'll get started back!

Axehandle,
Why do they shoot 2600s in Alabama? Is it so the shooters can get done sooner that if it was a 2700 so they can catch the NASCAR race?

Don't you know it.. Means that every couple of years we can shoot another match just from the ammo we saved! We figure that the last 100 points is just a carpetbagger induced thing anyway. Talledega is just a hop and a skip down the road too!

Re: New shooting venue in Alabama
Talked with Jim Collins at the Alabama Gun Collector's Association Show this morning. He plans to come call the Birmingham matches for us. For those who don't know Jim, he is a retired Alabama State Trooper. The only man to shoot a 1500/1500 in the old NRA PPC match in registered competition. Before he retired he shot with the All Army Reserve Team. Made a fair bullseye shooter too. He became a 2670 club member.

All round good guy too. I'm thinking he started shooting with the 121st ARCOM team about the same time I started shooting with the National Guard. He was at the Army Area match with the ARCOM team at Ft Meade in about '80 and was regular at our Birmingham matches through the 80s.
