Federal Automatch

I have seen several comments on here that this is good practice ammo, so I ordered some to try.

Marvel  conversion on FCW lower Avg Vel 1011.5 fps, Std Dev26.2

Clark Ruger 22/45 Avg Vel 997.3, Std Dev 23.6

All data is from 20 shot batches

I was very satisfied with the accuracy

I shot some today during a 2700 match. It shot fine, but I had a few failure to extract in my mark 4 22/45. It is good value, so I might consider using it again.

I had good luck with it in a Hammerli 215

I've given up on automatch, FTE, FTF and duds, sometimes all three in the same mag (Hammerli X-Esse).

Tried different mags, freshly cleaned gun or not.

CCI SV seems completely reliable but my local supplies have dried up, which is the reason I picked up the Federal.

FWIW, when they do function I seem to group a little tighter with the Automatch compared to CCI.

A group of about twenty of us shoot an informal steel match every week. All timed so any ftf is serious. Most of us were using Automatch successfully until a bad batch hit the stores. Federal kind of admitted they had a few bad batches and sent a case of fresh ammo for us. The bad batches were in the old black and white boxes, I wonder if some of this older stuff has resurfaced.

The ammo I tested came from Target Sports. I used it up an bought two more boxes. I have had no functioning problems in three BE pistols.

I've been using Fed AutoMatch for a while w/ no probs. Guns are a Marvel and an AA by Bob Marvel. Both old and newer style boxes from Target Sports.
