690 Winchester
Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for Winchester 690 powder. Have a 8lb keg to use up. This will be for 160 to 200 grain cast bullets.

Re: 690 Winchester
Nothing comes up on Google for Winchester 690.
Is that a typo?

Re: 690 Winchester
All my old reloading manuals show some .45 ACP loads with Win 630, but they are all jacketed bullets on the high side of velocity. No loads for lead bullets. Some even require magnum primers. Same for 9mm loads, nothing with lead and muzzle velocity in the 1200s to start. I can scan some of the pages and send them to you, if you want.

From this site (https://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?452988-Winchester-630-load-data)…. Note that it isn’t outstandingly clear…. But the upshot here is that your load would be about 9.0 grains…BUT WORK UP CAREFULLY. I’d load to velocity only (800 fps or lower) and live with the inefficiency . It’s way out of its application, but Winchester did publish these…

Re: 690 Winchester
I live for these kind of moments. It helps me justify why I hoard so many paper books and other physical media to the point that even I wonder if I'm a little bit crazy.
The answer is yes, I sure am.
In the below image, please note some data that was photographed out of the first ed., reprinted 1973, Winchester Western Ball Powder Load Data booklet. Don't think you'll be able to go down to 160 bullets, but 185/200/230 ball appear doable.
Hope this helps,
Chase
