MP90s slide lock?

Hey all, I just picked up an MP90s for my wife and she shot it for the first time tonight. She found that the slide doesn't lock back on the empty magazine. Is this the way it is designed or is there a problem? If it is a malfunction, would it be a mag or gun problem?

Thank you, she is new to euro style guns and it surprised her. I appreciate the help.
