9mil heavy bullets?
Hi everyone. i have been shooting a glock 19 which has been customized shooting 115 zero solids over 4.3 grns of 231. works well. but i heard talk about using 147 grain bullets will produce less felt recoil and more accuracy. any thoughts? Thanks!

If you load them to the same power factor with the same powder, heavier bullets will have less recoil force.

The recoil impulse is difference with light and heavy bullets, too. Light bullets, which are generally driven faster than heavy bullets, have a 'snappy' feel (faster recoil impulse), where the heavy bullet going slower have a 'push' feel. This is something to have to try to see which you prefer.
Accuracy difference? That's something you have to test in your gun.

9mil heavy bullets?
Thanks for reply> sounds right i think, I also now see that some companys make real light 9 mil bullets, 90 and 100 grns guess ill buy 100 of each and start testing!
Re: 9mil heavy bullets?
I have shot 147gn TC (coated) for years now.
Use a medium fast powder, VV320, Sport Pistol or Win 231.
I load mine on the lower end of the range shown in the manuals.
As S148 stated, test for accuracy.

Personally I prefer the feel of the heavy bullet recoil, feels more controllable. I shoot a lot of very hot 115 out of 9mm... 1350 fps... don't like it at all, but that's what is provided. 147 with 4.0 grains of Win Super Field is my all-around go to 9mm load for bullseye, fun plinking, carbine (Scorpion evo), everything.

The recoil of the 147 vs. 115 is to me better.
I've always seemed to prefer heavier grain bullets in all the calibers I shoot.
With the increase in bullet weight, you can go lower on the powder charge weight.
Hence the "softer" recoil.

Re: 9mil heavy bullets?
At 50 yards 147 gn can do weird things it all about barrel twist. I find my ppq with a 1:16 Jarvis Barrel or the factory barrel prefers 124gn. To get accuracy out to 50 yards from the 147gn I think you have to go with 1:10 barrel
Powder is a major consideration, fast powders with 147gn get pressure spikes. I heard tight group is the powder for that bullet for soft shooting and accuracy.
I load 124gn RMR Match winner over CFE 5.0gn or W231 4.2gn and they are accurate. 147gn over 4.2 gn cfe is good but not as accurate.

9 mil heavy bullets
Thanks guys, thanks rich, i just loaded about 30 124 grn jacketed hps over 4.2 231. very accurate at 25 yards. soft recoil. maybe ill stick with that and not go with the 147s. my barrel is 1in10 twist. thanks again!
