Gun bag (or box) contents
I like to travel light whenever possible. Besides guns, targets, eyes and ears, and ammunition, what other gear do you guys bring with you to the range?

Re: Gun bag (or box) contents
Slightly range/match dependent, but here is a list
Range Backpack
-Hearing protection (muffs and plugs)
-22 tool kit (chamber brushes, conversion tools, chamber plugs
-small tool kit (screwdrivers, hex keys, bushing wrench, ect.)
-scoring clipboard (with stapler and extra staples and some pens)
-rain coat
-sunscreen
-IFAK
Gun box
-spotting scope
-pens and weather proof post it notes
-microfiber rags
-sandbag
-sight adjustment screwdrivers
-squib rod
-occluders
-carbide lamp and old film canister with carbide
-optic cleaning tool
-oil bottle
-bunch of junk that probably needs cleaned out
Pelican case
-guns
-extra hearing protection
-large plastic bags
-plugs (for matches that I run)
-glass cleaning wipes
Ammo Can
-ammo that hopefully matches the guns
-brass bags
Backpack chair
-sunscreen/bugspray combo stuff
-snacks/water/electrolyte powder
If I bring the chair, the backpack typically stays in the truck, just get what I need out of it and put it in the bag attached to the chair. For larger matches, I bring a foldable wagon. Otherwise I just take two trips to the truck. I typically have a cooler in the truck with water.

I'll add:
Pre-fitted parts that are prone to breakage or unwanted flight. Firing pins, springs, recoil spring retainer, screws to name a few.
Spare ECI's for those that forget them. Lots of extra ammo.

Re: Gun bag (or box) contents
Very good. Though I've not (yet) competed in pistol, I did in benchrest and made a plastic laminated list of essential things to bring fastened to my main range bag.
One time at a match one of the competitors (Dennis) showed up and realized he forgot his rifle. I don't recall how this was resolved but needless to say he didn't win that day

Re: Gun bag (or box) contents
I remember a guy who was headed to the XTC high power regional in Portland Oregon, way back in the early 70s. He decided to clean his bolt action rifle the night before he left. Then he put it in its case and the rest of the equipment in his car, then drove to the match. He drove back shortly after he got to the range…talking to himself every mile back…he found his bolt on the workbench where he cleaned his rifle.

Thx for the replies. I need to resist the temptation to fill every little pocket in the bag with a tool or gadget. I’m not getting any younger.

Pasties or tape for those shots that (won't happen) miss the repair center
