Buck Mark Field Target?
Does anyone have any experience with this gun? Would it be a good beginner pistol?
The beginner doesn't want to spend a lot. He wants a gun with a rail and open sights. I suggested an X-esse, but that pushes the total budget (including dot) over $1k.

I am a buckmark fan. If the frame size fits the hand (and length of pull is correct), it would be a good option.

Count me as a fan too. I have that field target with the combo rib. I’ve used it both ways but I’m an iron sight only guy right now so mine no longer has a dot on it. The gun is plenty capable. I have only shot in the 290s a few times and at least 2-3 of those times were with that Buckmark. It would be a great choice.
Good luck.

I think the Countour is the smaller frame version of the gun?
They shoot good, I think the sear spring flip does not work anymore but you can buy a "GearBox" from Tandem cross and that will get the trigger down to about to #2 to #3.
Very accurate barrels

The sear spring flip worked on mine. I think it might be around 8 years old.

Has anyone tried to trim length off (100th or 200th) the long leg of the sear spring? I always thought that would be worth a try.
