Need help IDing .45 Auto Headstamps
I was hoping you guys could help me in identifying these three unknown 45 ACP headstamps. I found a pretty decent list online, but these were either not in the list, or I cannot figure out how to find them in the list. Sorry if I stretched the forum, I wanted to make them large enough to read.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I believe the one on the left is Independence Ammunition, which is commercial ammo made in Lake City Arsenal, Independence, MO. The one in the middle is Remington Arms, made in 1963. The one on the right is, I think, Norinco, made in China.

I thought RA back in that era and with the year was the USGI producer Radford Arsenal. The stuff I've seen may have all been from the 1950s. This was just before Uncle Sugar went the Government Owned, Contractor Operated arrangement which had Remington running Lake City most of the time. Maybe.
How you got me needing to look up MORE stuff. AFAIK, the Remmie stuff back then was usually headstamped Rem-UMC and had no year included.

IIRC, Rem UMC was commercial brass. The RA with the last two numbers of the year was military brass.GrumpyOldMan wrote:I thought RA back in that era and with the year was the USGI producer Radford Arsenal. Grumpy is correct. The brass is from Radford Arsenal, in Radford, VA. My wife's mother worked there during WW II. I've never seen any commercial brass with the date (year) stamped on it. FWIW, some Alliant gunpowders and the Alexander Arms series of AR-type rifles are made at the old Radford Arsenal complex today.
