Hit 2650 (.22 Only)

Well last month I broke 2600 for the first time and semi-seriously stated in that other thread that maybe my next goal with .22 only will be 2650. Well today I hit 2650 exactly. Again .22 only with my Hammerli and CCI Standard. So with my last month's HM score and this month's HM score for a total of 540 shots, should I expect to receive a HM card for .22 Only? Or do I need to shoot another 270 shots? I got the M card recently for it. Now I'm running out of excuses to keep shooting 22 only other than that I can't afford to shoot .45

Time to get out the .45.

NRA Classification are calculated on 360 shots. With 540 you can expect a HM .22 card.

However. For the above, reported results should be timely. If a match director sends results late, it is possible for the scores to fall out of sequence for calculating classification.

I don't know if -6.5 in my right and -7 in my left eye counts as good vision but I can see well enough to keep the front sight in focus

The current NRA record of 2680 was set in 1974. With iron sights. (actually steel, but the inaccuracy persists)

A dot or scope doesn't make you shoot better. It only lets you see what you are shooting better.

So I think I was shooting at the ability to break 2600 .22 only months ago, but for one reason or another I just never pulled it all together. Either I would have jams, like on my first 2700, which ended up being 2588 with two 0's due to jams/save rounds, or I would crossfire, or something else would happen that would end up with me going just below 2600. Shooting all the matches through July helped me hammer out my kinks in the process outside of just shooting. The other thing that boosted my ability with my hammerli was getting a heavier barrel weight. Totally transformed the balance of the gun and I shot my first ever 98 in a match on the long line. The third thing was I spent about a week in September learning to shoot under Jon Shue. Before I got there I was about an 860 shooter with .22, after that I was in the 880s.

 I had never done the blank paper drill and he had me sit there and do a blank paper drill at 25 yards until I could make an x-ring sized group. That took two days, but I learned how to see the "whole" sight picture. Hard to explain, but it eventually clicked and I got it. After that it was basically all rapid fire practice. I also learned to grip the gun tighter, I was gripping it way too lightly before. Also gained some gear confidence in that I got to ransom rest my gear and see what it actually does mechanically. Turns out my Hammerli shoots CCI Standard as good as anything else.

So I'm on the 2700 email list for our club. Was glad that I saw this score reported here before I got the match results by email, though I haven't been showing up for maybe a year.  

I'd have had to change my skivvies if I had scanned the email results unaware of your progress Jared.
