VVN310 & LSWCs
Does anyone here shoot VVN310 under 200 or 185 LSWC for the 50yd line with success. Any problems?
What is the appx load for slide mounted dot set up if you do? Seems as if most info I have found is for the 185JHP not LSWCs.
Running out of WST and VVN310 is available so I need to change if it will work.
If there is a prior post on this my apologies - I was unable to locate it.

Attached is a file listing N310 loads for .45 ACP including 200 gr LSWC. I use Penn Bullets Match Grade 200 gr LSWC over 3.8 gr N310. It works well for both 25 and 50 yd lines with adjustment of the dot to bring the group up or down. Your pistol may perform better with a different load. Test with several loads. Seems N310 is easier to find now a days.

3.8 with a 200, 3.9-4.0 with a 185 lswc and 4.5 with a 185 fmj-hp like zero or nosler works great. I have ransomed many of these loads and they will shoot 2'' or better out of a good kart barreled 5'' 1911, n-310 is a good powder, its a little temp sensitive so up your loads a tenth or two if shooting below 50 degree's, the big drawback and why its also available is its high price.

Almost forgot... my results are not for a slide mounted dot. Mine has a frame mounted dot support.

I shot some today, mostly over the chronograph. 4 grs. of VV N310 and a H&G 68 200 gr. SWC averages 801 fps out of my Kart barreled gun. (and only 11 fps spread) Seemed quite accurate in my casual shooting after the chronograph session. I cannot imagine it would not do well at 50 yards. You could drop a couple of tenths and still be good, I think.

Yes, can almost buy 2-1 of WST for the price of VVN310 - if one could find WST…….

Timely information.
Almost out of WST and found N310 locally.
So, time to work up more new loads.

Re: VVN310 & LSWCs
Shot some test loads last night - I was surprised the felt recoil was less than WST. I had to bump up to 4.0 for the 200 to cycle reliably in my very tight gun but seemed very accurate. My 1st four shots off hand were a clover leaf in the 10 ring…. shouldn't have looked in the scope... last 6 were close together but in the 8/7 rings…. I think the group will be well under 2" when I use the ransom rest.DavidR wrote:3.8 with a 200, 3.9-4.0 with a 185 lswc and 4.5 with a 185 fmj-hp like zero or nosler works great.
