H208S 2 stage trigger adjustment Empty H208S 2 stage trigger adjustment

My first stage of the trigger had been adjusted very short to such a degree that I don't even notice it. I recalled that Larry Carter said it'll feel like a roll trigger. I would like to know what others prefer, and how this can be readjusted, if possible, so that it would be more noticeable.

this is a good thread on the 208s trigger and it's adjustments. i have mine adjusted where the 1st stage is light and you just pull through it until the second stage hits.. others like both stages to be the same.. everyone is probably a bit different

I have both of mine set where the 1st stage is a bit over 1# and the 2nd stage breaks a couple ozs above 2#.  The feel of the trigger to maintain the distinct "wall" between 1st and 2nd stages is important to me.  I would like a lighter 2nd stage but don't want to pull thru it and have an unaimed shot in sustained fire.

I would have to look again at the adjustment procedure, but do not remember 1st stage travel length being adjustable.  I thought that was a function of the slot length the sear arm rides in on the trigger bar.

There is a set distance of travel for the sear/hammer engagement.   That distance includes both stages.  If you adjust the first stage longer, the second stage becomes correspondingly shorter.  That balance is adjusted by the second stage outer adjustment, accessed though the magazine well.
