9mm practice loads
Hello all,
I'm new to the 9mm cartridge and was wondering if someone could give me some data on a good practice load for a KKM equipped Beretta for use on 50ft indoor ranges. Cast lead bullets and either 231 or bullseye powder would be a plus. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Dave

Re: 9mm practice loads
It took awhile to respond because I had a tough time remembering where I put this target.I was testing different bullseye (powder) loads and this was the best of the day. I shoot my rapid right over the timed when practicing or testing. This was the most accurate of the 5 loads tested. 3.8 gr behind a 124 gr LRN. You will have better results with The xtps from Hornady but much more expensive. You probably know this already but clean the barrel good before going back to a jacketed bullet.

Thanks so much for the reply! Did you find the crimp to be critical or was it fairly forgiving?
Thanks again,
Dave

Re: 9mm practice loads
I always crimp the same so don't know how to answer. I reload with a Lee 4 turret press and use a Lee taper crimp die in the fourth turret. Doing it this way I only had to adjust the crimp one time and use it on every bullet I load for the 9s. I use a heavy roll crimp on the big guns but you want to taper crimp for the autos. I have not tried shooting a 9mm without a crimp.

crimp enough to prevent the bullet from moving under recoil. I just crimp enough so it doesn't easily move in a lyman smack it bullet remover with light smacking force.
