New to forum, looking for NW PA / NE OH matches
Hi Everyone -
I'm new here but a regular at The Firing Line. I was told this would be a good place to look for a Bullseye match in Northwest Pa, where I will be spending some time this summer. I'll be in the Meadville area, so anything from Erie down to I-80 or east of Cleveland might work for me.
Thanks for any help.

It's a bullseye desert in that area. No matches anywhere.
In fact, I can't think of a single good bullseye shooter ever that's come from anywhere within a 100-mile radius of Youngstown, Ohio.

^^ That was a joke, by the way.
Trivia question: which number is greater?
* The number of Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterbacks hailing from a 100-mile radius of Youngstown, Ohio
* The number of Camp Perry pistol champions hailing from the same 100-mile radius?

Given the proximity to Camp Perry, I figured as much, but didn't want to overstep my newbieness either...
By the way, with the help of a PM I got in touch with the director for a 2700 match in Greenville on June 7, so I'm all set. Thanks for all the help.

Yeah, I thought some people from the area would step in shortly and tell me how full of s**t I was
There are matches in Canton (OH), Warren (OH), Beaver Falls (PA), Greenville (PA), Moraine (PA), New Castle (PA), Rochester (NY), Summerville (WV). At least there used to be when I lived in the area. Some of those might be indoor/winter only, and some might have gone by the wayside or replaced by others.
It's bullseye heaven.

John:
The range at Summersville is, unfortunately, no more; the property was sold by the club's lessor. Matches near that location now are held at White Horse Range near Buckhannon, W.Va., and conducted by the Brassmasters club. I hope you can get to a match there sometime. We've missed you.

Hi Sandy,
Sorry to hear that. It's been a long time - I think the last time I shot in Summersville may have been '95 or '96?
I have a couple of funny anecdotes about that club, and the Regional and WV State Matches.
I remember being mad, when I first started shooting bullseye, because my mom wouldn't let me skip out of middle school to go shoot the Regional in Summersville. This was probably around
(That's right, shooters: when your mom says you can't skip school to go to a match, you can't go to the match)
Then I finally got to go to the Ramp Match, shortly before turning 16, and I remember joking with my dad that if I had been born a few weeks earlier, I could be driving the minivan. He still didn't let me drive.
The same year, I think, I remember being terrified of Sally Talbott, because she was a girl. I don't think I said a single word to her the entire weekend.
I mean, I'm a 16-year-old boy - what could I possibly have to say to a 16-year-old girl?
It's really a miracle that I survived to adulthood.

Did the original poster get information on Canton Matches? That would probably be the biggest close match. I think the club at Warren runs leagues during the week. Indoor 50 ft range run by Dave Bowser. Send me a message and I'll share contact info about Dave.
