I think a Range Box instead of a Pistol Box would work better. Everything, including mounted spotting scope, in the box except the pistols.  - -A separate secure padded case just the pistols.

I built that one in the spring from those plans.
I added a lock to keep out tiny hands.

Be sure you measure your pistol and scope to make certain shelf clearances are there.

I added a Gill Hebard mount for my scope. Works great.
I modified materials to use what I had. I believe I used 1/4 inch plywood for the back, sides and the front door because I had it on hand. Top and bottom  are 3/4 inch pine; that is what I had in my shop.

Took some time but i like working wood.

The box will hold 3-4 pistols depending on size. They  are held securely by a long 8 inch stove bolt epoxied in the back and goes into blocks that hold the pistols. The nut is recessed into the little wooden knob you see. Hard to describe. Glad to take more photos if interested. Yiogo

I built my own, similar but smaller than the one in the link, when I started and told myself I would buy one when I had the money.  Once I had the money I could not justify buying one as it would gain me no extra points.

I do not store guns in mine.  My guns are kept in a separate padded case.  Just my preference.

Greg,
Do I remember you selling pre-cut ready to assemble kits of the boxes you make?

R,

I've thought about it, but never did it.
