Does anyone here have a trick for disassembling a Bomar rear sight assembly? I want to make a new rear blade.

It works the same as a S&w rear sight. The castle nut on the left is usually staked onto the adjuster thread. You turn it to stop and continue till it breaks. You remove the pieces, and the spring. A new nut and thread are installed and staked. Check with Wigand to see if he has parts that will work.

If the Bomar is the same as a S&W a special tool is needed to install the nut. Brownells sells one, but I made one using a small electronics flat blade screwdriver and a Dremel tool.

Actually, I never had a problem screwing it on, a punch is used to bell the center of the thread swaging it in place YMMV.

Instead of reworking the bomar have you considered the kensight option.
I THINK they make one with the Bomar cut & are well made,

I got it apart. I cut a half moon from a lesser quality screwdriver. It holds the locking portion of the screw. The windage adjustment then unthreads. No pieces were damaged.

I bought a Kensight Deep Notch for another pistol of mine, but realized the base would not work on that slide. It also had a broken spring on the elevation screw. I decided to make lemonade out of lemons and removed the blade and put it on a different pistol. I made the tool out of an Apex bit using a Dremel whiz-wheel and had to clean up some of the parkerizing on the blade for fit and smooth movement, but it worked great on another Bo-Mar type sight. I used a automatic center punch to stake the screw and nut slots together afterwards.

Attached is a picture showing the tool and sight parts.
