Used Ultradot shopping
I'm starting to look for a used Ultradot on the net. Is there a problem with fakes on the market? If so, what are the keys to identifying a fake?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Used Ultradot shopping
I haven't seen any fake Ultradots (except for the previous thread that found the same scopes for sale in Japan...but those weren't being sold as Ultradots).
However, used ultradots don't have a warranty, and a new one is covered by a lifetime warranty to the original owner. The ultradots are good, but you do occasionally see a failure--it's way better to have them fix it under warranty than to be stuck with a broken one.
The original 1" ultradot doesn't have "click" elevation and windage. Those don't have a warranty on them at all. You can identify those because of their dust caps have square shoulders.

Re: Used Ultradot shopping
I just mailed in my 30 mm Ultra Dot for warranty repair and because I couldn't find my receipt they are charging me additional $25 for repair. So I assume you could get one fixed and pay the $25 on top of the $12.95 shipping.

Really? Did you send it in, in an original box? I had an Ultradot go bad that I had bought on a gun, as a package, from a custom gunsmith. They honored it. I have another one, I may need to send in. This is concerning.Jon Eulette wrote:I just mailed in my 30 mm Ultra Dot for warranty repair and because I couldn't find my receipt they are charging me additional $25 for repair. Just had my Ultradot4 repaired. And yes, it's $12.95, plus an additional $25 if you don't have a receipt.

Re: Used Ultradot shopping
The website says "proof of purchase" which isn't exactly the same thing as a receipt.
I won an Ultradot at Larry's picnic this summer. He didn't give me a receipt. And of course, I didn't purchase it.
So, am I screwed?

If you only have the one, probably. They don't have serial numbers.....

I wasn't going to go there, but since the genie is out of the bottle..If you only have the one, probably. They don't have serial numbers.....
You can have several of the same UD scope, and as long as you have at least 1 receipt, they are all covered....

Does your receipt have the serial number on it?

No, at least the few receipts I have do not have serial numbers on them.

Yeah,
I was disappointed by this same repair fee. My dot started going intermittent at league last night. Called ultradot. I don't have the receipt and need to wait 2 to 4 weeks to get it back. Guess I always thought they would be quicker than that given the nature of our sport. Guess I'll take one off ofthe .45, then get to bench them both again when I get it back.
