What can be done with a S&W 586
I have a S&W 586 6'' barrel what can be done with it to make it a better wheel gun to shoot the DR matches ?. This 586 has been shot for years with just light .38's and has had a trigger job some 18 yrs ago. I'm new to bullseye but I have been bit by the bug. Is there a good gunsmith that works up revolvers ? The cylinder seems a little loose to me.

What do the targets say?
The precision rifle community has a saying: "Believe the bullet."
Then it becomes a question of how good is good enough for you. If you want to shoot at the equivalent of a 1/4-inch 10-ring at 50 yards with a gun that shoots 3 inch groups, fine.
If you are happy shooting at the equivalent of a 1.3 or whatever-inch 10-ring with a gun that shoots 2-inch groups, I think that's more realistic.
But if you are wanting all the help you can get and want to shoot at a 2.3-inch 10-ring with a revolver that shoots 1-inch groups at 50, then you really DO need to buy some points and have the thing aggressively worked on, including most likely rebarreled within the DR rules...
