CMP Hardball Requirement Changes
Hi Guys,
Don't know if this question has been asked recently, but I wondered with all of the recent discussion regarding the CMP allowing the possibility of other guns to be used as hardball guns, have any of these proposed changes been acted on?
I know what the currently requirements are for a hardball 1911, because I recently built one for myself, but just curious if they have changed at all or if other pistols are also allowed.
Thanks,
JS

Re: CMP Hardball Requirement Changes
Thanks. I'll keep my eye on these threads. Personally, I hope the bullseye format stays relatively the same. I have no desire to shoot anything other than a 1911, however I would be very anxious to put a larger beavertail on the grip safety just because my hand is so large that the web of my hand spills up over the standard safety and sometimes gets nipped by the hammer.

I would have you a big hand contest instead I will just agree with you and I also hope we get to use beavertails.

Looks like we have similar size issues. I have a hand like a catchers mit.

JS,
My hands look like that too. I've got a nice hardball scar on the web of my hand. It's a badge of honor people won't know for much longer.
The hammer that comes with KC's CMP roll trigger kit doesn't bite me because of the way it's radiused. You should check it out.

Looks like here are the changes. Looks like I'll get to change that hammer and use a beavertail grip safety after all. No more hammer bites for me.

Please check out the note on the bottom of the current rule book. Brings into question exactly when the "proposed" changes will be effective.

Good point. It is unclear, but the link does state: "The CMP is making groundbreaking changes in this program that will appear in the 2015 CMP Competition Rules and go into effect during the 2015 competition year."
But when??? These guys must be taking writing lessons from the Democrats.

I know so I posed the comment on the CMP page. Also the link in the article does not take you to the rules / approved list only to a 404 page as of now. You have to use the main menu to get to the current rules.

Past couple of Rule Books were published in Jan. or Feb. why would we expect anything different?

It is some what ironic that Colt will be rolling out new production series 70 Gold Cup National matches for 2015. All for naught.

Re: CMP Hardball Requirement Changes
Don't confuse publication date with effective date. They can be different, and probably should be so competitors can plan accordingly. That should have been one of the reasons for making the last version good through 2015. Just because the changes are made for the 2015 edition may not make them effective if an effective date is different. That is why I asked the question.

They will be for 2015. The announcement says that the first .22 match will be at the Oklahoma games. I don't know the official start date of the new rules but I imagine that we will know in the next week or so.

Re: CMP Hardball Requirement Changes
I would be willing to bet that the 2013-2014 rule book was printed prior to the conception of the new rules. I wonder why the CMP has not addressed this issue with either an amendment or a statement regarding which rules will be in place until when.

got off the phone with the CMP received no clarifications of rule changes. Was informed that the new rule book should be out within the first 2 weeks of the new year.

Re: CMP Hardball Requirement Changes
It should not be so hard to grasp that a publication originally intended to govern for two full years just might be superseded early.
Just remember all those jokes about "women's prerogative".
Nothing illegal about changing your mind. Printed word goes out of date all the time. Life is a small amount tough for those who don't keep up. No one "legal" under the superseded 2014 printing will be DQ'd in 2015.
