That's 2011 pricing (and quantity, for that matter - when's the last time you saw CCI SV that could be purchased in case quantities?)

Re: CCI Standard Velocity Price Check
I ordered a case today...with shipping it was $506 - not a steal but I was not unhappy. $375 is
more than reasonable.

Re: CCI Standard Velocity Price Check
Isn't that exactly $37.50 a brick of 500? Pretty sure I got my last brick of that stuff for the awful to me price of $49 or so but that included shipping nonsense.
So, it shouldn't be but it is these days.
I feel almost guilty for scoring a brick of CCI Blazer for $27.50. But not really.

Re: CCI Standard Velocity Price Check
The local Dick's Sporting Goods has been getting several cases of CCI SV in every 6-8 weeks. They then stock the shelves with ten bricks, $40 a brick, one per customer per day. With taxes its about $43 out the door, and usually sticks around for two weeks. Plinking 22 has been staying on the shelves too at reasonable prices for 50 and 100 round boxes.
That said, I'd give a brick to someone if they could Ransom Rest some of it to see how the current lots group. Would a rim gauge help get better groups from a pistol?

Well many think it does... try it and see, anything that promotes more consistency will help. Many sort 22s by weight, rim thickness or OAL. I have found when dealing with cheap bulk ammo, it does help.

Such things might help only if your hold is like Stiff Sgt Ransom,

Re: CCI Standard Velocity Price Check
Years ago the tale was that CCI Green Tag was simply a lot of SV that had been tested and shot within specifications. Sounded reasonable enough knowing that about that same time the Military MTUs would pull a sample of 45 ammo from a lot and test it. If the sample shot within their specification they bought the entire lot.

Re: CCI Standard Velocity Price Check
I have found that using a rim-thickness gage helps enormously in reducing group size, even at 25 yards. I once found an entire brick of Remington Pistol Match to be ALL .043 thick, measuring 10 in each box of 50.
Bench rest .22 cal rifle shooters habitually segregate cartridges by weight also. (BR50)
What is the most consistent .22 RF ammo you have found?

Found CCi SV in paper at Rural King yesterday for $7.50/box. I bought none of what they had.

Re: CCI Standard Velocity Price Check
Thanks for the information, Jerry.
I shoot a lot of 10 meter air pistol using a Steyr air pistol, so when my cartridge pistols do something strange I try to figure out why. For the next indoor 25 yard competition I plan to use the RWS Target Rifle or Eley Target I have until I get confidence back in CCI SV.

Some levels of capitalism need not receive any market support.
One LGS is approaching 6 months now with a couple of boxes of 600 Speer 124-gr TMJs, priced like it was a box of 1,000. I can buy Hornady 115s (both types) and their 124-gr XTPs in the 100-round box across the aisle for 27.5% LESS per bullet. So the stuff stays on the shelf.
