NRA seeks volunteers for state "friends of NRA" banquets
Dear Bullseye shooters,
I saw this article on NRAblog.com:
http://nrablog.com/post/2014/12/26/Volunteer-at-a-Friends-of-NRA-banquet-in-2015.aspx
Try to ignore the 2nd sentence about "We would not be able to raise tens of millions of dollars for the shooting sports each year..."
These banquets usually feature high level NRA officials and big shot political types. If we are volunteering we might be able to convince these people that bullseye isn't getting enough of those "tens of millions of dollars" each year.
Perhaps we as competitors can demonstrate to NRA that we are valuable to the organization and worthy of additional financial investment and promotion.

Re: NRA seeks volunteers for state "friends of NRA" banquets
I wanted to share the mission statement of the "friends of NRA" here so we can better understand what they are looking for. The friends of the NRA is the side of the organization that we can use to promote shooting on our own. We can use our state organizations to provide the leverage we need to do more than just local advocacy, but a truly regional push to grow our sport.
"Established in 1990, The NRA Foundation, Inc. ("NRA Foundation") is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that raises tax-deductible contributions in support of a wide range of firearm-related public interest activities of the National Rifle Association of America and other organizations that defend and foster the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding Americans. These activities are designed to promote firearms and hunting safety, to enhance marksmanship skills of those participating in the shooting sports, and to educate the general public about firearms in their historic, technological, and artistic context. Funds granted by The NRA Foundation benefit a variety of constituencies throughout the United States, including children, youth, women, individuals with physical disabilities, gun collectors, law enforcement officers, hunters, and competitive shooters."

I should say the majority** of the funds raised by our Friends of NRA banquets stay in our state and each year we get an accounting of how much was raised and where the money went. Quite impressive actually. Not sure how all requests for funds are made, if it's local or all through NRA grant requests.

** 1/2 of the banquet funds stays and our State Association (MRRA) is very good at being aware and getting their fair share of the National Money available.
