New EIC Acceptable Pistols
First topic message reminder :
I am a match director and I hope everyone is happy with the new rules. I say this because I believe it is going to reduce the number of matches.
Why? I just did a count on the number of pistols that are allowed, 136 different models.
So I will probably try it this year but if it is as big of a problem as I think it will be it will be the last year I run a EIC pistol match.
It makes $0.00 for our club as we essentially just cover the costs.
And by the way we have given out at least 1 leg ( and yes they were 6 point legs) every year that we ran the match.
As you may gather I am upset. The CMP took a match that was easy to do and made it difficult.
And if you have never ran a match don't tell me that it will not be more difficult.

Rob,
Just email the CMP and get these guys what they want.
Any pistol, any configuration, any sight, any caliber.
That is what they want.
But then they will want to use two hands and reduce the distance to 10 yards.
I will guarantee that I have run my last leg match.

Re: New EIC Acceptable Pistols
At the same time we have complaints about no one shooting leg matches we have people complaining that leg matches are a free for all. Can we just get through the season, see what works and what doesn't and then fix what is broken?

Amen, brother....Apparently there aren't enough shooters in the whole state of Colorado to get 16 shooters on a firing line, but the "free for all" of pistols that will make more shooters eligible to participate in the sport is a problem?jmdavis wrote:At the same time we have complaints about no one shooting leg matches we have people complaining that leg matches are a free for all. Let's do it.
I shot my stock Browning High Power for a mock EIC today. It's accurate enough, that I can clean the short line at a slowfire pace, but the trigger is so bad when I shoot against the clock, the results aren't stellar. At least there will be one more shooter on the firing line.

If you can shoot the 250 min. score you earned your points I don't care what you are shooting

Thanks Rob,
Getting the clarifications back that fast was nice. I was interested in getting that info. Not, because I plan to shoot anything other then my 1911 but because now I have a better understanding of how many pistols I can loan out.

But if they left it that way this thread would not exist.
This is really laughable if it weren't so sad. How it could possibly matter that a shooter used a fiber optic front sight I cannot understand.
Or horrors a plain lead bullet.
If one were trying to sell or market the sport and encourage more shooters you'd let them shoot anything safe and within some very large boundaries designed to encourage participation. Some would game it and others would just show up with their pistol and fill out the ranks of support shooters. Those who pay the bulk of the fees and occupy the bulk of the finishing spots below the top ten.
