Iron sights
Okay, I guess I'm a neanderthal but I still use iron sights on all my BE guns. After 30+ years, I've bucked the tide and still use them. Any other iron-sight-only shooters out there?

Re: Iron sights
I am not iron sight only, but I have been shooting my CF and .45 with irons only for the past couple of years.
I think it helps me stay focused on the fundamentals. It really doesn't cost me many points. I can drill 10s fairly easily with the irons...

I've been shooting irons only for a season or two. I wish someone made a rear sight with an adjustable notch for the 45. That'd make it a bit easier. Light conditions vary a lot between several ranges where I compete.

I shoot iron sights. I tried a red dot for amusement, for a couple of weeks, then went back.

I shoot with "Open Sights" only; the term "iron sight" can mean something very different than open sight. I too,
have been using open sights on all my pistols since 1972. I continued the patridge sighting to have a parity with
my ISSF class shooting, 50M pistol, and 10M air pistol match shooting. I'm 73 years old and I only needed
prescription lens correction to clearly resolve my front sight blade.

That's for sure Dewey, An adjustable rear notch would be a perfect sighting aid.
Most of my 10M air pistols have adjustable rear notches, and the few that don't,
have replaceable rear notch plates. My Bullseye rimfire pistol is a Morini CM22-RF
that has an adjustable rear notch sight.
Could it be that several people have tried, but the rear adjustable mechanism
couldn't hold up to the 45acp's recoil?

Re: Iron sights
Even if the adjustable wouldn't hold up, replacement blades like on the pardini sp could work. Held in with 4 allen heads, I don't see them being an issue.

Everyone should start practicing with iron sights. Especially with your .22. That new distinguished badge for .22 looks like it will be fun to shoot for.

Irons only until I go Diatinguished. My eyes are very good so I'm holding out as long as possible.
