well I picked up a Kimber classic target today and lookin forward to a range trip tommorow..........Gun has a match barrel and bushing... so I lookin for some desent accuracy ...if It'll do 1'' @ 25 yds I'll be well pleased.....being just a hobby BE shooter I shoot mainly at 50ft -25yds...so this gun should do the trick ........gun was priced @ 999.00 but with the sale and discount I got it for 770.00 out the door.....SA range officer was 850.00 + tax ..dont think I went wrong with the Kimber.......

Re: new gun day
all I can say is wow......the .45 is a whole different animal than the rimfire.......I'm no beginner with the 1911 but all my experience has been with IDPA ,Bowling Pins, Plates . with my Springer loaded ......this bullseye game with a .45 is gonna take some gettin used to......I did manage to put together a 93-2x on a timed fire shot string with the kimber @ 25yds.......but the gun wore me out trying to shoot slow fire the trigger needs some work.....but all and all the gun will shoot and I dont think itll do bad @ 50 yds next spring......it aint gonna do 1'' at 50 but it should do 2-2 1/2 I'd guess maybe better .....all and all with a good trigger I can see this gun holding the 10ring @ 25 yds and maybe work on my load some I was useing a 200 gr semi wad and 3.1 grs of clays......but boy does the guy behind the trigger need some work.....I believe this gun will carry me for awhile then maybe some accu rails ,kart barrel .......but for now it will out shoot me.....

Paper puncher,
Since you are new to the 1911, and I'm aware that you did more air pistol and .22 stuff, I'm wondering if your trigger really needs work, or if the trigger that you have is just so different than what you are used to. What's your trigger doing that you don't like?

Rob,
The trigger is clean , but pretty heavy I havent put a scale on it but I'd say its 5-6lbs . It was really giving me a fit trying to shoot slow fire and not trying to hold to long....by the time I was done shooting I had a noticeable shake and didnt even try to shoot my .22's ......like to have it down to about 3-4 lbs.....I'll hang a weight off of it tonight and let you know what I find....keith
